WHAT IS BOTOX?

BOTOX® Cosmetic is a purified protein that is used to reduce the appearance of facial wrinkle.  It is FDA approved for many procedures and has been used for over 10 years. Botox can be used to decrease wrinkles of the forehead, eyes, and frown lines, as well as other places. The toxin blocks nerve impulses, temporarily weakening  muscles and excessive contractions  that form wrinkles and fines lines. Dr. Scemla utilizes Botox to produce a rejuvenated youthful expression, without the appearance of a frozen look.

A topical aesthetic is applied to numb the regions injected. Dr. Scemla uses a tiny needle for BOTOX® injections to create minimal discomfort. Pressure and ice will be utilized to decrease bleeding. It is also advisable to discontinue the use of NSAIDS, omega-3 and vitamin E three days before treatment, if possible. BOTOX®  is contra-indicated in pregnancy and while breast feeding. WHEN WILL I START TO SEE RESULTS?

After your procedure, it is encouraged to practice facial exercises in order to allow the toxin to be adequately absorbed by the targeted muscles groups. The treated areas will become relaxed in 5-7 days, and results last 3 to 4 months. Dr. Scemla utilizes Botox to produce a rejuvenated, youthful look, while still allowing normal facial expressions. The procedure takes approximately 10 minutes and can be performed during your lunch break.
